5 Things You Can Organize Poolside this Summer

Summer is a time to relax. Believe it or not, you can organize while you are relaxing! Here are some great things to do while you are sitting by the pool with your iced tea!

1– Grab a box of photos and go thru them discarding any that are doubles or photos that are overexposed. Sort the photos you are keeping by decade, then theme, such as Family Vacations, Holidays, etc. We recommend permanently storing your photos and family memories on Forever.com.

2- Take that pile of magazines that you did not get a chance to read all winter and go thru them while you are relaxing in the sun. Once they are read, drop them off at a doctor’s office or emergency room for people to look at while they wait. Remember to remove your address if the magazines are delivered to your home.

3- Are your recipes a chaotic mess? Go thru all of them and discard any you know that your family will not like or ones that are too difficult that you’ll never make them! Sort them by category (meats, veggie dishes, salads, desserts) and put them in an expandable folder for each access when you need then or set up a meal planning binder which had all of your family’s favorite go-to meals organized by categories in plastic page protectors.

4- Clean out your pocketbook and wallet- Does your pocketbook and wallet need a diet? Grab a small garbage and your pocketbook and start decluttering! When the kids are playing on the swings, you can be soaking up the rays and lightening the load. Get rid of old receipts and paper that you will not need. Throw away the pens that don’t work or the stale gum at the bottom of your pocketbook. Only keep things that you actually need in your pocketbook. I suggest storing items in small zipper bags sorted as follows: cosmetics, receipts, gum/mints, RX, etc. It makes items easy to find and changing pocketbooks a breeze!

5- Work on your holiday budget and shopping list. I know this may sound a little crazy, but when back to school time rolls around, the fall just flies by. Better to prepare early, then not at all. I offer a downloadable Family Holiday Binder on our website for $2.99. This will give you the tools you need to create your very own family holiday binder to help you stay organized throughout the holiday season! It includes everything from budget sheets, shopping list, suggested gifts and sizes for all those you need to shop for, holiday card list and more!

Have a Happy 4th of July!
